Christian Association mandates churches to raise offering for displaced Christians

Pastor Oritsajafor

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has mandated all Nigerian churches to raise a special offering for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Northern Nigeria.
The charge was contained in a statement signed by the CAN National President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor and made available to media organizations across the country.
The statement said that following the resolution to hearken to the plea by Northern church to ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us’, CAN has, therefore, mandated all churches in the country to raise special offering on Sunday, December 7, 2014 for the rehabilitation of over 3 million internally displaced persons rooted from their ancestral homes by Islamic insurgents in several parts of Northern Nigeria.
CAN ,therefore, appeals to all churches in the country to adhere to the clarion call to be our Brothers’ keeper because the situation is already creating a serious humanitarian crisis across the several IDPs scattered across  several states of the federation.
The statement enjoined church leaders to remit such monies to CAN Help And Relief Fund Account Numbers 0147690435 in GTBANK.
The special offering becomes necessary after several months of mindless killings, maiming, destruction of property and businesses, sufferings of traumatized Christians in Nigeria’s Northern Region.
The Central Working Committee of the  Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) recently, at its meeting, agreed to source for funds to alleviate the suffering of the brethren- in the volatile Northern Nigeria that has been ravaged by the deadly Boko Haram activities.
