Methodists Elect Uche As New Prelate

Methodist Church Nigeria has elected a new prelate to pilot the affairs of the church for the next five years. He is the Archbishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche who takes over from the outgoing Prelate, His Eminence, Dr. Sunday Olatunji Makinde, who succeeded His Eminence Sunday Mbang.
The decision to transfer the mantle of leadership took place at the first emergency conference of the Church held at the Williams Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Ebute-Metta, Lagos Central Diocese, at the weekend.
Born on January 29, 1953, Uche became the third prelate of the church.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, yesterday, to introduce the newly elected Prelate, Makinde called on Nigerian leaders at all levels to initiate a plan to solve the problem of unemployment in the country.
Other challenges that should be addressed by those in authority, according to him, include insecurity, ASUU strike, healthcare and  bad roads.
