Ughelli CAN bosst urges good represention of Christians at confab

Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, Rt. Rev Diamond Emuobor, has urged the Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor-led national executive of the association to brace up for the full representation of the Christian community in the forthcoming national conference. Emuobor, in a statement, said: “While the placement of Christians in national representation was resisted by rulers of past and present day Nigeria, the position of Islam has been conspicuously promoted and foisted on all who are non-Muslims by the same leaders who resisted Christian placements. “We take exception to the Nigerian currency having Arabic inscriptions representing Islam and other doctored identities that put Islam as the leading religion in Nigeria, while the Cross representing the Christian order is defiantly absent from our currency.” He canvassed the need for the place of religion to be conspicuously spelt out in the form of enumeration in the forthcoming 2014 census “so as to distinguish the lies from the truth about Nigeria’s population.” According to him, the “position of the church should be properly listed in the laws and constitution of Nigeria to show who is developing what in Nigeria.” Culled from Vangaurd Newspaper
