2015: Don't Overheat Nation's Polity,Oritsejafor Warns Nigerian Politicians

The President, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor  Ayo Oritsejafor, has urged politicians to avoid actions and utterances capable of overheating the polity ahead of the 2015 elections.
Oritsejafor who was in Plateau State yesterday, said the activities of some politicians were not in the best interest of the country.
He spoke to journalists after an interdenominational service cautioning that nothing should be done to rock the boat of democracy.
He said: “I am not impressed with the way politicians are going about their activities; politicians are giving a lot of Nigerians sleepless nights because they are heating up the polity. I find this unnecessary because 2015 is far from here, yet politicians are behaving as if 2015 is next month. I will advise politicians to stop distracting current leaders from doing their jobs.
“Politicians should be very careful not to make the nation ungovernable. Politicians should realize that if power is about the people, they should calm down and allow the people to take the lead in the activities.  They should not create problems for citizens due to their selfish ambitions.”.
Delivering a sermon earlier during the service held at the Assemblies of God Church, Hwolshe, he blamed the country’s woes on the lack of the fear of God among the leaders and citizens of the country and urged Christians to continue to pray for the country.
He said : “I have taken a critical look at the entire problems facing Nigeria as a nation in this 21st century and I have discovered that the major problem of the country is that we don’t fear God. We do all sorts of things deliberately and carelessly because we don’t fear God. We say one thing and do the opposite. We lie, we deceive people and do all kinds of things because we don’t fear God.
”Those in position of authority will steal from public fund and we try to justify stealing because there is no fear of God in our hearts. We kill at the slightest provocation and we try to justify the killing of human beings because we fear not the Almighty God.
“How can a man that fears God sit down comfortably to watch pensioners slump and die of hunger when you are sitting on billions of fund meant for the upkeep of these pensioners?

“Yet we try to justify our actions. It is this lack of fear of God that makes a man of 50 years and above to marry a girl of 13 years. Yet we bring all sorts of reasons to justify our actions. All these are signs that we lack the fear of God in our hearts.”
