Just as the entire Kano metropolis is thrown into
pandemonium, following last Monday night multiple bomb blasts in the North’s
biggest city and commercial nerve centre, the Christian Community in the city
is also counting its losses, as yet another church was also burned down with
many worshippers died in it.
Revealing thus, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in
Kano, Chief Micheal Tobias Idika, put the casualty figure in the explosion at
45, said in a statement that the Christ Salvation Pentecostal Church was
equally bombed, during an evening service.
His words: “At 41, New Road, the Christ Salvation Pentecostal
church was also bombed at the peak of evening worship, where many people died”.
Though no group has claimed responsibility for the
explosions, the explosions bore all the imprimatur of the deadly Islamic sect,
Boko Haram.
At least four explosions were heard around outdoor
bars in Sabon Gari, causing panic and sending clouds of smoke and dust into the
air. The location affected by the bomb blasts is an enclave carved out
specifically for non-indigenes of Kano.
The statement which prayed for the departed souls and
the wounded, also hoped that those in authorities would brace up to take
actions to stop the on-going carnage in the country.
“To all the departed souls and the wounded in these grievous
attacks, we register our deep sympathy and only hope that those in authorities,
including all security agencies, would brace up and take decisive action to end
this carnage”.
