CAC crisis: Group calls for biblical reconciliation

As the crisis rocking the leadership of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) is yet to be resolved, the Christ Apostolic. Church Peace and Reunification Group (CACPRG) has called on the factional leaders of the church to embrace mutual and biblical reconciliation. The church, founded by Apostle Joseph Babalola has been facing series of crisises for the past 23 years and all efforts to resolve them has not yielded any positive result. To this end, the CACPRG, which has been making frantic efforts to reconcile the two factions, that is, the Supreme Council of the Church, the General Executive Council (GEC) and the Independent, for the sake of progress of the church, also appealed to the factions to drop all legal actions pending in court in order and embrace dialogue. In a statement signed by the Vice Chairman of CACPRG, Pastor Tunde Omojuwa and made available to Sunday Newswatch yesterday, regretted the crisis saying such ought not to be happening in the church of God . He noted with concern that the cause of the crisis was yet unknown to the members of the church, saying “up till now, the leaders of the factions have failed to let the church know what they are fighting upon after 23 years” While calling for Out of Court settlement of the conflicts, Omojuwa pointed out that “ the peace of God on any matter of conflict within the Church of God or between Christians can only come through personal forgiveness and self sacrifice, and not through any human judgment which could be obtained through manipulation and could still be appealed against” The CACPRG leader expressed disappointment over an advertorial published by the General Executive Council, (GEC) faction of the church, saying that the content of the advertorial further exposes the level of spiritual degeneration in the church. He then declared in the statement that “anyone at the top hierarchy of this church, therefore, who from now intentionally opposes mutual reconciliation of warring factions in CAC and the seamless reunification of our church which has been unreasonably and unduly polarised for 23 years as a result of 1990 insurgency or take solace in the human court, other than embracing the biblical principles for conflicts resolutions among followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, would be regarded as the arch enemy of Christ, His Church, and the Bible which is the word of God” The clergyman, in the statement, also blamed the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for fuelling the crisis, alleging that the Commission connived with some factional leaders and made available two registration certificates bearing the same name and registration number. According to him, “it is the duplication of the Certificate of Registration for the church that has convoluted every good move for the peaceful resolution of the crisis. Each faction claiming to be duly registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission with the same name : Christ Apostolic Church” “When this issue of the duplication of Registration Certificate is duly adjudged, we would see that the 23-year-old imbroglio in the CAC church would be naturally resolved,” he expressed assurance.
