The Untouchables: Can I Criticise a Man of God When he is living Outside the Bible ?

The word, Sound Doctrine. Is another word that we should look very closely. Only the teaching of sound doctrine can arrest the deceptions of the false prophets. The word of God will always throw light unto our path. Whilst the false prophets attempts to twist God’s word. We must balance the word of God to see clearly and not be deceived. The fifth text 2Tim 4 v 24 is also very revealing (2Tim 4 v 24) A time will come when people will fall in love with Unsound doctrines. In fact they will even surround themselves with teachers who will fill their ears with un-sound doctrines. The point will come when they loathe the truth. It is our responsibility to reprove, rebuke and exhort with sound doctrines. Child of God this is the season where we find ourselves today, and we must persist to keep reproving and rebuking. Now it is important for me to give these background references and explanations, so that we can balance scriptures with regards to the subject of our discourse. Are men of God really untouchable? Yes, it is dangerous to attempt to physically assault a truly anointed man of God, because God will send his angels to defend his servant. Also, it is equally dangerous to peddle lies or untrue stories against a truly anointed man of God. God will defend and avenge swiftly. But when a truly anointed man of God is out of line it is the duty of those who have authority to call such one to order. The question will be, does reprimand and rebuke of a man of God amount to touching God’s anointed? From the earlier explanation the meaning of “Touch” refers to physical assault and inflicting or injury. A rebuke, correction and reprimand definitely is not what is referred to here. Secondly, when we remember that it is our responsibility to hold our leaders accountable by discerning and testing all spirits. Then it is not out of order to balance doctrines and teaching in the light of scriptures. If they are wrong in their words and actions we must hold them accountable. Are men of God untouchable? Yes, if they are living right. Are there examples in the bible where the anointed of God was chastised or corrected? Yes, there are some scriptures to prove that, the anointed is touchable by rebuke. David was being pursued by Saul and his armies. But by divine intervention, it was David that was given the Head of King Saul on a platter of gold. However David refused to harm King Saul physically, but then even though King Saul was not touched physically but he was touched by reprimand. (See 1Sam 24 v 9-12.) Samuel the Priest, chastised King Saul. He was instructed to wipe out the Amalekites, but he kept King Agag alive and his soldiers kept the spoils of battle. This was viewed as disobedience and rebellion, Samuel rebuke King Saul because he trespassed the commandment of the LORD. The anointed was touched by rebuke. (See 1Sam 15 v 22 -24). Nathan rebuked King David for murdering Uriah and taking his wife. In fact the punishment for these sin of murder and adultery was made public by God because it involved the sin of murder and sexual transgression. See 2Sam 12 v 9-12. The anointed was touched by reprimand and also physically. Apostle Paul stood up for the truth of the gospel when he discovered that Peter was not straight forward concerning the truth of the gospel. Peter was fellowshiping with the gentiles but when the Jews came he distanced himself as if the justification of Christ is by works rather by faith. Please see Gal 2 v 11-15. Apostle Peter was definitely touchable by correction. I have observed that, it is the false prophets, who always rely on this bible reference in Psa 105 v 15 to attempt to dominate, manipulate, intimidate and silence their critics. They use this scripture to brain wash their followers. It is our duty as believers to honour, respect and support our church leaders. We are even duty bound to give them double honour when they serve diligently, but it is also our obligation to hold our leaders accountable for their teachings, doctrines and their conducts. Firstly this is God’s wisdom to keep them under checks and balance. Secondly it helps us to demystify them. When we put men of God above God’s words, we idolize and mystify them. The word of God is a leveller. In fact God went further in the bible to tell us not to be afraid of those who claim to be his prophet yet all their spurious prophecies fall to the ground. (Please see Deut 18 v 22). As a believer the bible encourages us to celebrate the men of God, honour and respect only those who live by the standard of God’s word. We must not be brain washed by their display of eloquence, gift, wealth or charisma. Only the purity of their life should get our attention. As men of God we live our lives in the public and such we must be accountable. There is no spiritual immunity against sin. We must shun sin and all its appearances; we must be ready to give our account of stewardship to men and to God. Any powerful leader can become corrupt if not held accountable. Absolute power corrupt absolutely. Maranatha. From unmaskthetruthasitis.blogspot.com
